In terms of pure performance, the 911, even in drop-top form, is still a charmer. The opposed six engine makes all the right sounds, which is a good thing, because the sweet powerplant is a prevalent part of driving this car, top up or down. Handling is still the Porsche's forte, with the rear-engine sports car being as well behaved as any front- or mid-engine player. When pushed hard on canyon roads or track testing, the back end can still swing around, but only after the most ludicrous of driver actions. With Porsche Stability Management (PSM) switched on, you'll be hard-pressed to get the backside ahead of the front, and even with it off, you can comfortably rotate the car in mid corner simply by lifting the throttle.
