2004 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG Supercharged Coupe

Thanks to its supercharger, the hand-assembled, all-aluminum 5.5-liter V8 engine dropped under the stylish hood of the 2004 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG luxury coupe pumps out an impressive 493 horsepower. The engine is linked to a five-speed automatic transmission. Special 18-inch AMG wheels are also part of the CL55 package.

The CL55 showcased many of Mercedes' top technical features, including a special Active Body Control (ABC) stability system that helps reduce body roll to ensure a comfortable yet sporty ride. Other cutting-edge technologies for 2004 included bi-xenon high-intensity headlights, electrochromatic exterior and rear-view mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, adaptive cruise control, two-zone automatic climate control, a self-leveling suspension, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, and traction control.

Inside the car, luxury is the name of the game. Standard features included leather seats (heated in the front), a power-adjustable driver's seat with memory, power steering, a lighted entry system, power heated mirrors, a power sunroof, a trip computer, dual front and side airbags, and a premium audio system. A DVD-based navigation system was also new for 2004.
