This is an extremely well maintained example of one of the most collectable automobiles in the world. The Mercedes 190 SL is considered to be one of Mercedes Benz's true masterpieces and the example we are offering here stands above the rest. This car was originally sold in Hollywood California and has remained here in Southern California ever since. It still wears yellow California plates front and back. Over the years it has changed hands some 4 times but each owner took very good car both in storing the car and maintaining it. A file full of service records supports the effort to keep this beauty close to new. Within the last 700 miles the car has had extensive routine maintenance performed at the famous Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Irvine CA. to the tune of $10,200. Just a few thousand miles before that the transmission was rebuilt with new clutch, pressure plate, bearings and much more costing $13,300. These are just some of the services that have been done to this car by conscientious and caring owners. The car was born 180G Silver Grey Met. but had a color change many years back. It can be enjoyed with the current color combination or easily brought back to its original look. The interior was restored within the last 5000 miles but is still the original red. Both the hard top and the soft top are present. The soft top appears new and the metal frame under it is also in wonderful condition. All instrumentation works flawlessly and even the original clock keeps perfect time. The chrome both inside and out are superb and the fit of body panels in the gaps are consistent and maintain factory standards. A look underneath reveals an honest and original floor with solid frame rails and nicely preserved factory welds.Brakes, suspension, steering and cooling systems are all in excellent condition and perform exactly as they should. A look under the hood shows a very tidy, well maintained engine compartment with no signs of leaks and the very popular fuel system upgrade to Mikuni Carburation. As would be expected with a car of this quality it comes with the original instruction manual, Catalog A, service book and even the datacard that was used when the car was ordered. These wonderful 190 SLs are becoming extremely hard to find in any condition but to come across one as stunning as this is nearly impossible these days.
