Description

In 2001, Lamborghini marked the end of their Diablo model by introducing a Special Edition Diablo of which only 40 would be produced. There were 20 produced in the shade “Oro Elios” to represent the sunrise and 20 produced in the shade “Marrone Eklipsis” to represent the sunset. The Diablo SE would see an increase in performance as well when the 5.7L V12 would grow to a 6.0L V12 and increase the horsepower from 530 to 550. This increased the top speed to even further past the 200mph barrier. Shorter gear ratios meant that the SE’s 0-60 time would be dropped from 4 seconds to an impressive 3.5 seconds. Parts like the intake manifold and the cylinder heads made from magnesium lower the cars weight from that of the non-Special Edition. The VT stands for Viscous Traction, which is an all wheel drive system developed by Lamborghini for the Diablo. Audi put its touch on the Diablo SE after its purchase in 1998, by making it a more refined and drivable car.

This 2001 Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0 Special Edition is painted in the “Marrone Eklipsis” shade, and commonly referred to as the “Sunset Edition”. This Diablo was a Special Edition when it rolled out of the factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, making this the one of the very last Lamborghini and most collectible Diablos ever produced. Its 6.0L V12 engine with 550HP is capable of reaching speeds of well over 200MPH and its Viscous Traction system ensures that all of the power is distributed in a manner that makes the car an easily tamable beast. With only 7,770 miles since new, this Diablo has been well looked after and maintained. When it comes to collectible Lamborghinis, this Diablo SE is one of the most special.

The Sunset Edition signified an end to the Diablo model but also brought Lamborghini into the new millennium. It is one of the most iconic looking poster cars of all time, and with only 20 produced in the Sunset shade, it is one of the most rarely seen cars in the world.
